Vil du høre mere om Spring Meditation – all that wants to grow?

For me, spring is the best time of year. And I’m sure I share that feeling with many others. Spring is when everything begins to wake up again. Shoots break through the soil, the first flowers appear on trees and bushes, and perhaps even more noticeably – when, like me, you live in the city – people begin to emerge again too. The heavy coats come off. People sit on benches, in parks, and on pavements with coffee, wine glasses, and cans of beer in their hands. A particular feeling of relief begins to appear. As if society as a whole is breathing a little more deeply.
In Denmark, where winter can feel both long and dark, spring arrives almost like a collective restart. A feeling of new beginnings. New possibilities. New directions. Something in us wakes up again.

When something new begins to stir

In the same way, I love the state that spring represents within me.

It appears most clearly when I begin something new. A project. An idea. A dream. A feeling that something is beginning to take shape, even though I do not yet fully know what it is. It is a state shaped by playfulness, curiosity, and a quiet but deeply persistent anticipation of what it might become.

This is where I truly feel alive.

Spring is not simply about action. It is about emergence. It is the particular energy that appears just before something becomes real. That moment when possibilities suddenly begin to reveal themselves everywhere, and the world feels larger, more alive, and full of paths that could be taken.

The state some people seem to live in naturally

We all know people who seem to live very naturally in the state of spring. People who constantly come up with new ideas. Who see possibilities everywhere. Who begin new things without hesitation and are driven forward by an almost unstoppable curiosity.

But spring is not only for the especially creative or entrepreneurial. We all need to be able to access that state from time to time. Because without spring, winter’s reflection is never transformed into movement. Dreams remain dreams.

Spring is the transition between the inner and the outer. Between dream and action.

When all the potential appears at once

Spring is also the season when all potential reveals itself at the same time. When every direction begins calling to us.

And it is both beautiful and overwhelming.

Because when something new begins to emerge, a decision follows with it. If we try to cultivate everything at once, we risk that nothing is given enough space to grow strong.

When I facilitate DesignWISE workshops and work with spring as a state, I often tell the story of my balcony.

Every year, as soon as early spring arrives, I throw seeds around almost impatiently. I can hardly wait for the balcony to become green, lush, and alive. But year after year, the same thing happens: by late spring, I am left with far too much. Everything is competing for space, light, and soil.

And then comes the difficult part.

I have to remove some of what is actually growing and thriving. Not because there is anything wrong with it — but because something else has greater potential to fully unfold.

That is an important part of spring.

Curiosity comes first.
But right after comes decisiveness.

The ability to choose some things — and let other things go.

Spring always returns

It can be difficult to let go of possibilities. Difficult to choose something away. Perhaps because we fear the opportunities will not come again.

But they will.

This is one of spring’s great lessons: life keeps sprouting. There will always be new ideas, new directions, new beginnings.

Just as winter always becomes spring, new possibilities will continue to emerge within us.

We do not need to fear that one day we will run out.

There is always a spring within you

This meditation was created as a way to help open up that state.

So it does not need to be April outside your window for you to use it. It can be used when you are standing before something new. When you need to choose a direction. Or when you simply need to be reminded that there are potentials within you that have not yet been allowed to grow.

There is also an important realization within spring: that everything you will need already exists within you in some form. Like seeds in the soil.

They do not need to be forced into existence. They do not need to be dug up through hard work.

They simply need attention. Curiosity. Light and warmth.

A meditation about what wants to grow

I hope this small meditation can help you enter the state of spring. Help you sense what is calling to you right now. What deserves your attention, your energy, and your care.

Not everything needs to grow at once.

But something within you is ready to begin.

And perhaps that is enough.

In continuation of winter – and DesignWISE

If the Winter Meditation is about stillness, reflection, and retreat, then the Spring Meditation is about movement back toward life. About allowing something new to take shape.

The seasonal meditations arise from the same underlying perspective: that we — like nature itself — move in cycles. That our energy, creativity, and decisions also have seasons.

This is also a central foundation in DesignWISE, where the shifting seasons are used as a language for human states, creative processes, and transformation. Not as a romanticization of nature, but as a reminder that we ourselves are nature — and therefore cannot be expected to remain in the same state all the time.

There are times to rest.
Times to harvest.
And times to begin again.
